Rambling on my trip to Gujarat

I'm heading to Mumbai right now, on a bus, hope to catch Dussehra tomorrow in Baroda. Listening to Joan Baez right now. Her voice, her focused lyrics, makes her such a powerful artist. Felt like writing something to kill time ...

India was just a vacation for me some time ago, spending two months of my school's summer break in Mangalore, and occasionally a slightly more exotic location like Mumbai, or Mysore, or Jamnagar. Ahhh Jamnagar! I had been there when I was little to stay at Alice aunty's for a week. Her home made wine was the first time I ever drank alcohol, and got drunk, and got caught (they got suspicious when I started speaking Hindi). And there were so many cows and goats wandering outside her home. I would feed the goats the morning newspaper, and then grab my red t-shirt to taunt cows into a Gujarati bull-fight. The cows never budged. But day after day, I would try my luck, until I ran out of it when I stepped on a piece of broken glass. And then I literally became the butt of all jokes after I got a strategically placed tetanus shot!

Good times they were. Will be in Jamnagar on Friday if all goes to plan. Don't think I'll be repeating any of my old antics, cause I'm older and wiser this time :) . Joan's singing Dylan's "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" right now, a song that brings back recent memories of someone. While on the topic of memories, last week was a tough one. Grandma and Henry uncle, I only have fond memories of you guys. May you both find peace in your new home.
